Roos Schneijderberg (1977) is a Dutch emerging multidisciplinary artist. With her highly diverse, bold yet serene works she invites the viewers to explore their spacious inner world.
She plays with the viewer’s conscious and unconscious perception - and transforms psychological states into spatial works, making the invisible inner world tangible. Central to her work are site-specific creations - large or small, temporary or permanent - by which she creates an atmosphere of tranquility that nonetheless contains a palpable tension. She combines powerful simplicity with subtle disruptive fragility. With her sharp, and yet sensitive, works she pierces through the spectator’s facade - often by using (broken) mirror elements.
Her work includes installations, scenography, land art, sculptures, mixed media objects, videos, paintings, photography, poems and conceptual furniture. Her academic background in advertising and psychology laid the foundation for her conceptual thinking and emotion- and psyche-based themes in her work. Her style is sophisticated yet bold presented with some serious lightness.
Introspection, femininity, and a refined abrasive interaction between imperfection and radical aestheticism are recurring elements in her oeuvre. Others frequently describe her work as ‘Jungian’.
