IMAGINE
6-8 FEBRUARY 2026 ROTTERDAM
A series of minimalist works consisting of just one - chosen - word typed on a piece of paper. Allowing people to create their own boundless inner image based on personal associations and memories.
During Object 2026 visitors were invited to choose one word. Any word.
I would type it twice. Once on a card, signed it, and gave it to them as a free art piece. A second time on a smaller piece of paper that the visitor could tape to a wall wherever they wanted.
The evolving wall showed fragments of all the different lives. It made visible what normally remains hidden. The chosen words became research. Children, youngsters, adults, seniors, all lives were mixed together on the wall. All with their own story. Surprisingly, visitors picked well-chosen places on the wall for their specific word, creating combinations of words with meaning and/or humor. Together, people became the creators of the emerging wall of words.
Afterwards, all notes were archived, as if they were truly valuable research results.
