YOU TURN ME (ON) - A work about Female Objectification, (Im)perfection, Playfulness, and Seduction.

A set of two unique turnable photo prints on dibond. Height 225 x width 150 cm, each.

Both photos can be hung in various positions. Literally the legs can be turned in any direction: pointing the legs up, down, left, or right.

The woman’s legs are asking to be played with, to be desired, as if the female figure is asking to be turned on. But can the body of an appealing woman be something else than an object to be desired?

The photos are extremely large. It makes the female legs larger than life-size. It is an additional purpose of the work; magnify women in this highly patriarchal society.

A believe that men since history are more often presented larger and more powerful than women. A counterforce is needed to create a new balance and gender equality.

YOU TURN ME (ON) consists of two different photos of unretouched woman's legs, both with nude heels that show wear and tear, situated on a raw white concrete background.

On one hand there is the feeling of refinement and luxury - golden Prada logo under the heel - on the other hand there is the rough, unpolished and erratic concrete floor, the goosebumps on the buttocks, the visible veins, the wear in the heels.

This imperfection is creating an extra sensation, making the pictures come to life. The works can be seen as call for sexual liberation and a warning saying; ‘perfection will kill your sex life’.

Or is there still the rigid captivity through female objectification? Is the female figure in control and superior through the size of the work, or is she in service of the spectator? And are the legs un-retouched imperfect or actually perfectly shaped? The interpretation and association is subjective.

In one photo the heels are situated in one straight line; the powerful pose.

In the other one, the heels are more apart pointing slightly different ways making the pose more receptive. This version also shows little goosebumps on the buttocks, while the other picture shows vaguely the area of the panties but it remains unclear if the woman is wearing one or not.

YOU TURN ME (ON) invites you to play freely. Its dual message is promoting sexual liberation by embracing playfulness and imperfection while enlarging women for gender equality. The title of the work is a humorous nod to Diana Ross’ song ‘Upside down - Boy you turn me’.
